This page features an experimental mashup using the Twitter and Google AJAX Language APIs. Users can read the latest Twitter tweets related to the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which are written in a wide variety of languages. For screen reader users, it is important for multi-lingual applications to include HTML markup that identifies the language of sections of text (i.e., using the lang attribute). By doing so, screen readers that support multiple languages will switch automatically to the correct pronunciation engine for the language being read.
This page is not intended to be a fully-functional Twitter client. For example, there is no means provided here for posting tweets, just reading them. For a fully functional accessible Twitter client, I recommend Dennis Lembree's Accessible Twitter.
